got such awful reviews I’m going to skip it altogether… even if it means missing seeing this guy…

the book however, was good.  I just wish I would have read it when I was a lot younger, before LOTR and all the other fantasy series…. I think I would have appreciated it a lot more.  It’s a great introduction to the genre for those who have not read these types of series before.

For me, personally, it lacked a little something else… maybe it was the writing.  At some points, it seemed too hurried or the feelings of the characters too spelled out.  The characters themselves were fantastic and I think the plot was good too.  However, a lot of the internal monologue was ehhh.

All in all, I’m glad I read it and I will continue the series… thanks for all your comments… greatly appreciated it!

so far… I’m enjoying the book.  It is definitely targeted towards a younger reader but… hey… I’m enjoying it just the same. It does, however, make waiting for The Winds of Winter more difficult because it reminds me of dragons which inevitably makes me think of Daenerys.

and just for kicks…
